Dan Harmon: “HEY, DID I MISS ANYTHING?”

In an honest, charming, funny, and really quite sad post, Dan Harmon talks about being replaced as the showrunner of ‘Community’, which was recently renewed by NBC for its 4th season, 13 episodes on Fridays this fall.

I rediscovered Donna Summer after hearing ‘Feed The Animals’, the incredible remix album by Girl Talk, in 2008. GT’s brilliant sample of Donna’s “Bad Girls” led me to check out the rest of her catalog and come to better appreciate what she brought to the world of music. So thanks, Girl Talk, and goodbye, Donna. We’ll miss you.

Street artists in Midwood, Brooklyn, created this stunning “Gratitude” mural to honor Adam “MCA” Yauch, who passed away last week at the age of 47.

Adam Horovitz posted these words on the Beastie Boys blog: “As you can imagine, shit is just fkd up right now. But I wanna say thank you to all our friends and family (which are kinda one in the same) for all the love and support. I’m glad to know that all the love that Yauch has put out into the world is coming right back at him.” Man, that picture is really sweet. “PWR 2 MCA. I ♥ U.”

“When you could stamp a foot down through the floor, it’s a better plan by far… to blow off the roof and let in the dark…” Dragonette is back to take over the world once again. “Let It Go” is wonderful. Potential song of the summer. The video is here!

“Bubblegum Bitch” is my obsession of the week, I can’t get enough of it. I’m still trying to understand all the implications of ‘Electra Heart’, but it’s safe to say Marina already won me over again. Excuse me while I listen 50 more times.

R.I.P. Adam “MCA” Yauch. “Fight For Your Right Revisited”, the hilarious and raucous 2011 film, is now an oddly moving tribute to the Beastie Boys.

‘Girls’ shouldn’t tell your story

Lena Dunham

When there’s a television show as heavily anticipated, written about, reviewed and examined as ‘Girls’, the HBO series by Lena Dunham that premiered April 15, it’s no surprise everyone has something to say about it. I’ll jump on the bandwagon to respond to critics and viewers who expected ‘Girls’ to represent anything other than its own characters. Of course it doesn’t. ‘Girls’ shouldn’t tell your story.

Do not adjust your set. This is TC’s top 40 albums of 2011.

This is the 9th consecutive year that I’ll be counting down my favorite music. This year-end tradition started back in 2003, and since then, it has weathered everything you could throw at it. I mean, it’s practically an institution at this point.

Join me for another journey through the year’s memorable singles of each season, then the main event, my top 40 albums. The road to #1 starts here.
