Street artists in Midwood, Brooklyn, created this stunning “Gratitude” mural to honor Adam “MCA” Yauch, who passed away last week at the age of 47.

Adam Horovitz posted these words on the Beastie Boys blog: “As you can imagine, shit is just fkd up right now. But I wanna say thank you to all our friends and family (which are kinda one in the same) for all the love and support. I’m glad to know that all the love that Yauch has put out into the world is coming right back at him.” Man, that picture is really sweet. “PWR 2 MCA. I ♥ U.”

“When you could stamp a foot down through the floor, it’s a better plan by far… to blow off the roof and let in the dark…” Dragonette is back to take over the world once again. “Let It Go” is wonderful. Potential song of the summer. The video is here!

“Bubblegum Bitch” is my obsession of the week, I can’t get enough of it. I’m still trying to understand all the implications of ‘Electra Heart’, but it’s safe to say Marina already won me over again. Excuse me while I listen 50 more times.

R.I.P. Adam “MCA” Yauch. “Fight For Your Right Revisited”, the hilarious and raucous 2011 film, is now an oddly moving tribute to the Beastie Boys.

I’ll jump on the bandwagon to respond to critics and viewers who expected ‘Girls’ to represent anything other than its own characters. Of course it doesn’t. ‘Girls’ shouldn’t tell your story.

Join me for another journey through the year’s memorable singles of each season, then the main event, my top 40 albums. The road to #1 starts here.
